2. Overview

This privacy policy explains which personal data is processed when you use the website train-with.me and the mobile app Train-With.me (Android and iOS), for which purposes, and which rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

3. Website

Hosting and server logs

This website is served via Firebase Hosting (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). When you visit the website, the hosting provider processes technically necessary data such as IP address, date and time of access, requested page and browser information (server logs). This processing is based on our legitimate interest in operating the website securely and reliably (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

No cookies, no tracking

This website does not use cookies for analytics or advertising and no tracking services. Only a language preference (e.g. dismissing the language hint) is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) and is not transmitted to us.

4. The Train-With.me app

Which data we process

This data is required to provide the app's features – your user account, the activity feed, friendships, chats, statistics and push notifications. The legal basis is the performance of the user agreement (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Push notifications

You only receive push notifications (e.g. when friends start an activity) if you have allowed them on your device (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can disable them at any time in your device's system settings or in the app.

Public profile

Every account has a public profile at train-with.me/u/<username> showing your username and your training activity over time (heatmap). This profile can be accessed without signing in. Details of your activities and your chats are not visible there.

5. Google Firebase

To provide our service we use Google Firebase (Google Ireland Limited) as a processor, specifically: Firebase Authentication (sign-in), Cloud Firestore (database), Cloud Functions (server logic), Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications) and Firebase Hosting (website). Data may also be processed on Google servers outside the EU (in particular in the USA). Transfers are based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. 6. Sharing of data

We do not share personal data with third parties unless this is necessary to provide the service (see Google Firebase), you have consented, or we are legally obliged to. Your activities are only visible to confirmed friends – with the exception of the public profile (see above).

7. Retention and deletion

We store your data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account including all associated data at any time directly in the app (Settings → Delete account) or by emailing support@train-with.me. After deletion, your data is removed from the active systems; backups are overwritten on a rolling basis.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection to processing (Art. 21). You may withdraw any consent at any time with effect for the future. To exercise these rights, contact support@train-with.me.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Austria this is the Datenschutzbehörde (Austrian Data Protection Authority), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at.

9. Changes to this privacy policy

We update this privacy policy when the app, the website or the legal situation changes. The current version is always available on this page.
